HAND DRAWING before Computer

Updated: Jul 23, 2021

I am a traditionalist by heart. When I create a logo, I like to sketch it by hand, then refine it and change it and put in line width variations to get a flow. Then I scan the drawings and redraw them in Adobe Illustrator again refining the Illustrator outlines.

When I want to get certain kinds of gradient or more rendered effects I'll export the drawings as Illustrator outlines into Photoshop, then create a path that I might break into layers for better control of the drawing elements and color. Because when in Photoshop the images are not vector based anymore the final size is of the utmost importance so I don't lose resolution.
